UNIMAID SUG makes bold step in gaining the support of her students
There was unrest at the University of Maiduguri Student Park recently when EXCOs of the Students Union stormed the park instructing students not to pay more than thirty naira (N30) as transportation fee within the school premises as stated in the circular released earlier this month. In the words of the school's SUG President "we have sat down with the leaders of the keke-napep association and we uniamously agreed to reduce the fees to 30 naira but up till now they havent implemented the decision".
Mallam Adamu, one of the Keke Napap drivers commended the EXCOs for the leadership but said he will join his colleagues on strike until their leader tells them otherwise.
Summarizing what the SUG President had already told our respondent, Comrade Mafindi Mustapha Hassan said this awareness will be one of the many to come and urge students to always stand up for better service delivery in the institution.
According to reports by some students in the institution, the Keke Napap drivers and SUG have reached a conclusion as students were seen riding freely as before.
